Christmas came early for our family this year when we took possession of our Reset location. For seven months, we’ve had to keep a secret (legally) about our locale since there was a business operating in the space. Now, the secret has been revealed and everyone is fired up to bring the Reset magic to 727B Sutter Street—the former home of The Cellar wine bar.
Tahni and I started dating in High School. Often times, we would come to the Historic District of Folsom on our way to a concert in Sacramento and grab a bite to eat. When we were married in 1987, we dreamed of living in the Historic District one day. We almost bought a home back in the 80’s in what used to be referred to as “Old Folsom.” We passed on the home back then because it was too expensive (oh, to have a time machine). Our dream became a reality almost 30 years later when we purchased our quaint 920 square-foot home in the district.
Our companion dream was to one day own a business on Sutter Street. We’ve performed live music in and frequented many of the establishments (including The Cellar) and walked the streets of the district almost every day. We’ve rented Historic spaces for events. We’ve volunteered for Chamber events, Historic District celebrations, and participated in the many seasonal festivities of the district. With each event, date night, midnight stroll, and outing, we’ve imagined our very own business here.
In early 2020, we’ll open the doors to Reset. The Cellar Wine Bar’s former location is perfect for us. The beautiful bar, transom windows, almost-entirely-glass front entry, fireplace, wainscoting, and gorgeous tile flooring were enough to sell us. The setting will be transformed without us having to do any construction. A new countertop, refinished cabinets, new lighting fixtures, new paint, new tables and chairs, some added bench seating, artwork, and some secret magic will be added in the next few weeks.
We can’t wait to see our new espresso machine on the counter, our Founders Mugs in the open cabinets, and our sign hanging outside. But, most of all, we imagine the space filled with wonderful humans who not only enjoy good coffee, beer, wine, food, live music, and the Reset ambiance but, they also take in the vibe of the Historic District that is the stuff of dreams for us.
As you’re strolling around the Historic District, please feel free to take a selfie or a group photo in front of our place. We’ve adorned the front windows with some artwork and lighting fit for the season and our personality. If you’re so inclined, tag us in your photo on Instagram and/or Facebook @resetfolsom. Looking forward to a huge reset in 2020!
